Agency Services for the Professional Community

Therapeutic Health Services plans to become a hub for the mental health services  community. Aside from our comprehensive services for clients, professional mental health clinicians can also benefit from this approach, from those newly graduated who require early-career guidance, to continuing education for those already practicing in the field. Whether you are in private practice or a soon to be intern there is a place for you here.

Supervisory Services for the intern

Meeting the supervision requirements for new university graduates of mental health counseling  programs is one of the offerings of Therapeutic Health Services. Our supervisors are board approved and qualified to supervise registered mental health counselor interns in the state of Florida.

At a minimum, interns must complete 1,500 hours of in-person client sessions combined with 100 hours of meetings with their supervisors over a period of at least 100 weeks. The state of Florida has additional requirements, and when taken in total, it generally takes two to four years to finish supervision requirements.

Finding the Right Supervisor

Your chosen licensure supervisor will be very important to your future success as a counselor. It is important to choose a supervisor you feel comfortable with, have confidence in, and with whom you can explore your own growth as a therapist. Therapeutic Health Services can help you determine the best supervisory fit for your expectations to be met.

Supervision is the best way to learn and develop the practical skills of counseling. Simultaneously, an intern will learn how to become a capable therapist while also protecting the client.  What should you be able to expect from the supervisory experience? To begin with, a supportive environment; mentoring and expert guidance; producing  a well-written clinical summary; and developing your clinical skills in diagnosing, treatment planning and documentation. But this is only the beginning. Therapeutic Health Services can help the intern do all of this, and more. Ask us for further information about qualified supervision services that lead to licensure and practice building.  As your internship needs change over time, we will help you identify them and further your growth in those areas.

Workshops and training

Because of the diverse, decentralized nature of our work as clinicians, it may at times feel that we work in isolation, with no central location available to us to meet, converse and share ideas. Therapeutic Health Services plans to fill this need by offering access to our facilities for professionals to meet, hold seminars and workshops, and provide training that offers CEU credits. These offerings will range from information for new practitioners to advanced topics for those practicing for a longer period of time. This plan is still in development and more information about it will soon be available, so check back with us or feel free to contact Therapeutic Health Services to discuss your ideas.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) for employers

Therapeutic Health Services is offering high level turnkey Employee Assistance Programs to employers. These work based programs, abbreviated EAP, are becoming more and more useful for employers who wish to provide an additional level of counseling support to their employees and their families. Offered at no cost to the employee, EAPs can help with brief counseling sessions to discuss workplace and family issues that may be interfering with the employee’s work performance.  All services rendered are confidential and referral and follow-up services are available for information about child and elder care, home repair services, substance abuse, grief, financial counseling, or even health and wellness assistance.

Your employees can experience less stress with an EAP program that will help them or their families with ideas for how to better handle life’s problems, whether personal, family or financial. EAPs make sense for today’s workplace, for employees, and the employers who care about their well-being. Sometimes, they can make sense for your business’s bottom line. If counseling is not your core business, contact Therapeutic Health Services for detailed information about setting up a confidential EAP program for your workplace.

Substance Abuse Professionals (SAP) for the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)

When persons whose job performance is regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation experience instances of alcohol or controlled substance abuse, a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) may be called upon to evaluate the employee’s violation of the regulation. The gravity of the SAP’s responsibility cannot be underestimated, and the training they must undergo before becoming  certified to provide this service is detailed and extensive. Therapeutic Health Services is seeking certification as a provider of this service to the DOT.

Those persons being evaluated may include, for example, school bus drivers, airline pilots, oil tanker operators, or subway car conductors, to name only a  few of the conveyance operators who are subject to these regulations and who may require the substance abuse follow-up and treatment.

The SAP will evaluate the situation, then make professional recommendations to the DOT regarding  substance abuse education,  recurring substance testing and recommended aftercare for the employee, to protect the public that depends on the safe execution of their responsibilities.  In these instances, the SAP acts as a neutral decision maker charged with the responsibility of acting in the public interest by offering an unbiased recommendation to the DOT.
